PROJECT
Stones radiolocation in rivers beds
Funded by: Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas CSIC
Period from: 01/01/2004 to: 31/12/2005
Main researcher: José Luis Villarroel Salcedo
Project description: The project is a collaboration with the Institudo Pirenaico de Ecología from the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científica. This last partially funds the development of technologies that allow the radiolocation of stones dragged by the river floods, with the object of facilitating the research lines to the Erosion and Soil Uses Departament (CSIC, Aula Dei Campus).
It is intended to develop a small size radiobeacon that allows its introduction in a hole made in a stone and subsequently sealed with epoxi resin. The radiobeacon will make possible its radiolaction to distances no lower than 25 meters. This emitter will be powered with batteries, it will remain in a low consuption state that guarantees its operativity during more than a year and it will have a device for its remote activation.
